Prozac Kitty - Just Gotta Laugh

Whenever I am having a rough day, I find that those silly LOLCats can always cheer me up. Me and my teenage niece have this in common. 

I once read an essay that was deconstructing the LOL Cats and how they are really an example of schadenfreude.  (laughing at other people when they are down, really)  I don't think that's all it is, though.  To me they represent the ability to express human pathos in the guise of cute or funny animals.  Like cartoons, the LOL Cats are allowed to say things we might not feel comfortable saying about human beings.  But they're animals so it's safe.  So we can enjoy the pathos and the humor.  Plus LOL Speak is just hilarious.  We take the butchering of English to the extreme but it's ok - cause its just kitties, right.  No pressure.  Just funny.

Friday Morning Quiz - Brand Name Medication Edition

Sporcle.com has some great quizzes.  After having finished pretty badly naming the 100 best novels, I was happy to get all 14 of these puppies correct.  I guess having all this medical knowledge finally came in handy.  I'm not a doctor, I just play one on TV.

So That's Where I Parked My Helicopter

Seen from the doctor's office parking deck, which is in a medical center next to the hospital.  Don't even ask me about the part where I had to pay the $3.00 parking fee on the way IN the parking garage, and I did not have any cash.  Suffice to say I got a little bit teary and the guy let me go park and then go in and use the ATM to pay him.  Thanks, parking lot attendant dude.

History of Toilet Paper - From Mental Floss

The folks at CNN.com/Mental Floss have an interesting article up all about the history of toilet paper in America. 

Here's a quote:

Currently, the United States spends more than $6 billion a year on toilet tissue -- more than any other nation in the world. Americans, on average, use 57 squares a day and 50 pounds a year.

I think us "Crohnies" probably account for more than our fair share of TP sales.  Not to mention flushable wet wipes, that wonderful invention.  :-)

Thank god we live in modern times.  Can you imagine having to use a corn cob, moss, or pages ripped out of the Sears catalog?  Eek!

Funny For the Day

I stumbled across the funniest website called McSweeey's Internet Tendency.  It has some of the most obscurely funny lists I have ever seen. 

This one, however, had me break out laughing until my kids has to ask me what what so funny.

New Anxiety Medications for Coping With Economic Gloom

Funniest one: Nojoblin.  I  think I am on that.  I have now been laid off for more than 6 months.  My biggest fear was having to be out on disability and not be able to work.  Now I am perfectly capable of working, want to work, motivated to work, have fantastic job skills in Information Technology, over 12 years of experience as an email adminstrator, and...  unemployed due to recession.
